At Boulder Sports Chiropractic we believe that with musculoskeletal injuries it is best to address both the joints and the muscles to get the fastest and longest lasting results.

Research shows that passive therapies are a valuable therapy tool for pain relief and healing, especially when combined with active (muscle recruiting) therapies such as strength and conditioning or physical therapy.

We utilize adjunct therapies with chiropractic care and physical therapy during your visit. This may include hands-on or instrument assisted manual therapy to help improve range of motion while decreasing pain, Class IV Laser therapy to help reduce local inflammation and improve tissue repair, or  kinesiology tape to help with joint stability and lymphatic drainage.

Manual therapy is an integral tool in sports performance and injury treatment and prevention. It is often referred to as myofascial release, and typically incorporates the use of tools or hands-on therapy to manipulate muscles, ligaments and tendons with applied pressure or stretching. Manual therapy can best be used to treat scar tissue and adhesions found within the connective tissues. Adhesions can be sometimes described as “sticking points” between the connective tissue fibers which limit the range of motion and gradually create dysfunctional movement and pain. By using a combination of our manual therapeutic techniques listed below, we can eliminate pain, stiffness, adhesions, and scar tissue from sports injuries and car accident pain relief.

Our most popular manual therapy is called Active Release Technique (ART) is a hands-on soft tissue technique that treats problems with muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia and nerve pain through specific protocols.

Graston technique is a manual therapy that is best for decreasing adhesions in fascia and scar tissue using specifically designed tools.

Our chiropractic and physical therapy providers use a combination of manual therapies such as Active Release Technique, Graston therapy, and Trigger Point Dry Needling throughout their appointments to help improve connective tissue integrity from head-to-toe.

Alternative therapies utilized at Boulder Sports Chiropractic to accelerate tissue healing is the FDA approved Class IV medical therapy laser. Through a process known as photobiomodulation (PBM), the LightForce laser can administer >500 mW of energy at 810 and 980nm wavelengths of light, allowing for optimal absorption by the musculoskeletal system of the body. Typically, the patient experiences a warming sensation for the duration of treatment which may last 3-12 minutes depending on the injury.
