Tension headaches are a result of excessive compression on the nerves in the back of the head and neck, typically from the tight muscle group known as the suboccipitals. Remember that it is never normal to have headaches. It may be common in some individuals, but there are tools to help decrease the severity and frequency of headache symptoms.
